Weekly Update 10-18

Hi Coaches,

We are heading towards the end of the season. For the younger teams, just keep on doing what you are doing, but for the older teams, this means it is tournament time. As always, we have our own Region 206 tournament for 12U and 1U teams, and this year we also have the opportunity for teams to play in the Old Pueblo Invitational. 10U, 12U, and 14U teams are all invited to play in this 31 year old Tucson Soccer Tradition! A couple of other notes:

We still have coach’s shirts in all sizes for your assistants if they don’t have them already.6U and 8U coaches SHOULD NOT still be on the field with their teams by this stage of the season. That should only have been for one or two weeksPLEASE make sure your players know the basic rules of the game. I see many players unsure of what happens when the ball goes over the goal line (always a corner kick or goal kick) , or the touchline (always a throw-in). This will help keep the game flowingAlong the same lines, for 10U and above, please make sure that all your players have a basic understanding of the goalkeeper position. If your practice isn’t ending with a scrimmage where you can go over restarts, then it should be.See you on the fields,
